Our goal
Reducing unnecessary heart attacks.
HeartEye was founded by Dutch cardiologists who realised that the majority of deathts due to cardiovascular deseases happen outside the hospital. The main goal is helping patients to reduce hospital visits. The solution we found is developed in a pocket size ECG monitor which can be connected to the HeartEye app. From now on, doctors but patients as well can monitor their heart rythm anywhere and anytime.
Revolutionizing health care worldwide.
In this way, we can monitor, detect and react at all times the status of your heart. In case of failures we can warn patients early on. The goal of the project is to make this device available for everyone in the world. Unneccesary heart attacks outside the hospital can be reduced in this way. We see major potential in countries with and without a densed health network in our battle against cardivasular deseases.

Prof. dr. P.A.F.M. Doevendans
Chairman of the Advisory Board
Pieter Doevendans became a cardiologist in Maastricht. In 1993-1994 he had the opportunity to work with Ken Chien at UCSD San Diego where the work on stem cells started. The work was completed in Maastricht and provided the basis for a thesis on the promoter of the atrialMLC gene. Upon return in the Netherlands he worked with Christine Mummery and Hans Clevers (Hubrecht Laboratory).
In the meantime he remained active as an interventional cardiologist initially in Maastricht, but from 2002 on in Utrecht. Here he was appointed full professor in Cardiology in 2004 and head of the department 2005-2020. The focus is on Cardiac Failure, stem cells and genetics. He was funded by various national and international foundations. Thus far (2021) he published more than 800 peer reviewed papers and 12 books. He is an active member of the European Society of Cardiology. Director of the Netherlands Heart Institute from 2015.
Dr. Rien van der Zee
Chief Medical Officer
Rien van der Zee is a cardiologist and chairman of the Cardiovascular Biology Foundation. Currently, he is focusing on preclinical diagnosing heart disease to reduce out-of-hospital mortality. He has been conducting studies on cell physiology in the vascular wall both in Maastricht and Boston to predict the occurrence of an acute coronary event that leads to sudden death.
His Foundation has participated and sponsored numerous studies on cardiogenetics. In connecting health care professionals with spinoffs of technical institutes and medical companies, he is now involved in the development of a device that enables users to perform independent cardiac monitoring.
